Andrew McClintock

Bio

Andrew McClintock was born and raised in San Francisco. He is currently finishing up his BFA in Photography at SFAI. He is the photo editor of RAH Publications which is an international publishing house but you can still find him trying to hustle free color copies for his self-published zines. When he isn't tearing around Amsterdam on a beach cruiser he is bombing the hills of SF on his skateboard.

Statement

These images are from the Bedroom series, environmental portraits of people in their bedrooms. What draws me to people's bedrooms is that it is the only private space we have but we also make the space an extension of our inner personal life. Because of this, we decorate them in a way that will highlight certain aspects of our subconscious that we desire to be seen. I mix this with the fact that the word “bedroom” provokes certain sexual aspect that I reference as well. I am involved on a personal level with all my subjects from this series and I try to draw on these specific experiences to set the tone of the portrait.
