Statement
The project that I am currently developing takes as starting point the summits held by the G8 countries. I am looking at official visual records of such meetings, trying to release possible readings by essaying slight readjustments, or amplifying specific details within a given image.
In a broader sense, this is a project on power, with closer inspections to its embodiments within the G8 context. Such ongoing approach can result on single or a series of drawings documenting that study. The drawings presented here are the initial installments of a series.
Initially I am searching for and dealing with what the images I collect can offer on their own, exploring the representational layers contained in each image. This can eventually lead, on a later stage, to the use of extra elements in the production of new drawings, as results of suggestions or associations emerging from the initial results.
The work title for the project is 'leaders of men', taken from a song by Joy Division.
