Rafael Abreu Canedo



Bio

Rafael Abreu Canedo was born in Brasil and came to the United States in 1994. Through the use of photography, video, installation, and performance, Rafael explores issues of social behavior, power relations, and identity, with focus on the body. He has exhibited and taught throughout the US over the last 7 years. In this time, Rafael has worked with organizations such as New Langton Arts, Sprout Fund, M.T.V.'s Rock the Vote, No More Prisons, Books Not Bombs, the MOVE Organization, Pittsburgh Public Schools, Oakland Unified School District, and countless artists, developing a commitment to communication through the arts; changing the future by working for a better today.
