Statement

I use common tools and materials such as clamps, extension cords, lamps, locks, bungee cords, plywood and lumber. All these objects are purchased new and therefore have no use history. By appropriating these objects and treating them as purely "art" material they are stripped of their cultural or contextual meaning and can be explored simply as an object in space. I emphasize and explore the aesthetics of my material as a means to give an entry point for the viewer. Essentially, I create assemblages that explore the definitions of sculpture and installation. These works are modular and designed from the onset to react to the possibilities of different environments.
