Statement

My experience raised in the military culture is the impetus behind this work. Revisiting this experience through memory and personal collected artifacts has made me consider ideas pertaining to occupation, topography, and perception.

A series of questions I initially asked myself at the beginning of this project led to the mentioned ideas. What are the implications of occupying another country? How do these objects (turrets) directly correlate to location, space, and mapping? And finally, how do we, as a highly militarized nation consider what a "real threat" to be?
