Statement
There was a friend on the other side of the earth. Although we were born in a different country, speak different languages, and have different gender, the bridge between Kansas and Japan is not that far away. In fact it's right in front of your face, it's in our eyes. It's two artists sitting in the same room trying to speak for each other. It's a white board and dry-erase markers. It's an attempt to draw a self-portrait for the other. To communicate the geography of your homeland to a stranger. An immediate reinterpretation, an immediate bond. It's a break down in communication and technology. It's a subtle dance. As methodical workers/artists we are by nature speaking for ourselves even when attempting to speak for another. Gender, sexuality, nationality, language, and communication.
We are in the middle of each others picture. Exceptional existence.
It's more than the ability to speak for each other it's the desire to start the conversation and all that it encompasses. We speak of deliberate miscommunication, the inability to separate the individual from the box/classification. We are all talking mammals are we not?
dinosaurs of our own invention... starving technology.
